6 GYM ETIQUETTES YOU MUST FOLLOW
- SEEK PERMISSION – If someone is using a machine or particular exercise equipment you need, don’t walk up, grab it and walk away with it. That’s extremely rude, and can also be dangerous if is happens to fall on the person working out with heavy weights in the middle of a squat or a bench press.
- DON’T LEAVE WEIGHTS AND DUMBBELLS LYING AROUND – Leaving a dumbbell lying in the middle of the floor, is the most careless thing you can do. It can seriously injure someone if they accidently trip and fall on it. If you have borrowed weight from a corner, make sure to keep it back there , rather than leave it on the gym floor.
- DON’T INTRUDE ON SOMEONE ELSE’S PRIVATE SPACE – You may want to smile for the camera for a gym picture ,but make sure you are the only one in the frame, and you are not intruding in someone else’s private space or hogging a public area that others are waiting in line to use. Also don’t stand around and stare while a person is working out . It puts too much pressure on them, and they may end up hurting themselves. keep your distance and await your turn
- DON’T LISTENT TO MUSIC WITHOUT HEADPHONE – You may love your workout playlist, but it may not impress everyone. Hence, it make sense to use headphones while listening to music so that you do not disturb anyone in close proximity.
- CARRY A TOWEL WITH YOU –Gym equipment can be ridden with germs, so always carry a towel with you. Make sure to use the towel whenever necessary so that your sweat does not trickle down on it especially while working out.
- AVOID BEING NOISEMAKER – Some people make loud grunting noises while working out. And there’s no reason why that should be the case. Avoid doing that. Also, if you run into a gym mate, keep your conversation short and sweet. Avoid disturbing others by talking /screaming loudly across your gym station. -Courtesy : TOI(M) 02.08.2019
